QuadSucker/News has been tested and found to work with Windows Vista. This page contains information about how the QuadNews newsgroup downloader functions under Windows Vista, tips for using the software, and any known defects:

Differences between Vista and XP:

  • Downloaded files are stored in c:\users\<username>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\quadnews\download. (wow, that's a mouthfull). Thus, if you're having trouble finding the files that you've downloaded, then this is the place to go to.

Known Problems:

  • Tools:Explore Download Directory not working. This command is supposed to open Windows Explorer in the QuadNews download directory. Because of the Vista VirtualStore feature, all program data is stored in c:\users\<username>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\quadnews.
